The Great Yokai War delves into the mystical world of Yokai, the ancient spirits of Japanese folklore that inhabit every corner of our surroundings. These diverse beings, from the familiar Kappa to countless others, deserve reverence as the spiritual essence of the world. Yet, humanity's continuous consumption, destruction, and disrespect deeply distress them. In response, the sinister villain Kato, accompanied by his deadly assistant Agi, concocts a drastic plan. He begins capturing various Yokai, forcibly fusing these gentle spirits with discarded metallic junk to create formidable, vicious killing machines. Kato intends to unleash these monstrous creations upon humanity. The fate of the world rests on young Tadashi, a preteen boy recently moved to the countryside. Unexpectedly crowned the Kirin Rider at a local festival, Tadashi soon learns his honorary title carries a grave responsibility. He must embark on a perilous journey to locate the legendary Great Goblin and retrieve a powerful magical sword, the only weapon strong enough to defeat Kato's evil scheme and restore balance.
