Description:

"Successor" tells the poignant story of the impoverished Ma family, led by the struggling father Ma Chenggang and his hardworking wife Chunlan. Living in destitution with a dilapidated home and barely enough to survive, they drive donkeys to work, their lives a constant uphill battle against hardship. Their sole beacon of hope is their brilliant and fiercely determined son, Ma Jiye, affectionately known as Pony.

Pony is an exceptional student, consistently achieving top grades, and his parents pour all their aspirations into him, believing he is their only chance to uplift their family from their dire circumstances and forge a brighter future. However, as Pony matures and begins to perceive the world around him with growing awareness, he starts to notice increasingly unsettling discrepancies. The people and situations he once took for granted gradually appear more questionable, hinting at a hidden reality that threatens to challenge everything he knows and potentially derail his family's arduous journey towards prosperity.
