Description:

For 25 years, 55-year-old attorney Kanji Washida has endured a solitary existence in Hokkaido, a self-imposed penance for a past he can’t escape. Once a judge in Tokyo, he betrayed his family by rekindling a passionate affair with Saeko, his former college sweetheart, after she appeared as a defendant in his courtroom. When Saeko vanished again, Kanji, consumed by guilt over his transgression, abandoned his prestigious career and family, choosing a desolate life of solitude.
