The comedy-drama film Girls opens with a chaotic college graduation where Kimmy Fiona Sit dramatically threatens to jump off a building. Her dramatic display is sparked by a recent breakup and her father forcing her to study in the U.S. Her friends, Siwen Ivy Chen and Xiaomei Yang Zishan, call her out for her histrionics, but the situation takes a turn when another girl accidentally falls. Years later, the three friends live together in a massive flat in China or Taiwan. Xiaomei works as an assistant to director Barbara Wong, Kimmy runs an events company, and Siwen works at a posh hotel. Siwen is about to marry the handsome Lin Jie Wallace Chung, but her dreams shatter when he is caught cheating. The cancelled wedding sends Siwen into a dazed, depressive stupor. Now, her loyal best friends must find a way to pull Siwen out of her deep funk and help her heal.
