In the supernatural thriller Forest of Death, police detective Ha ChunChi (Shu Qi) is tasked with solving a horrific rape and murder case. The crime occurred inside a notorious, mysterious forest famous for being a suicide hotspot. Although detective Ha ChunChi targets Patrick Wong (Lawrence Chou) as the prime suspect, he vehemently denies his involvement. The investigation takes a bizarre turn when Ha ChunChi connects with botanist Shum ShuHoi (Ekin Cheng), who is conducting unusual experiments on the forest's flora. Meanwhile, Shum's girlfriend May (Rain Li) secretly exploits the situation, feigning interest in his botanical research to gather sensational gossip for her tabloid television show. Unbelievably, Shum's research suggests that the local plants possess consciousness and can actually serve as crime witnesses. To uncover the truth, they organize a tense reenactment of the crime deep within the forest, hoping the living plants will function as ultimate lie detectors to catch the killer.
