Crossing Hennessy is a charming romantic drama centered on Loy, a 41-year-old bachelor played by Jacky Cheung, who lives with his mother Paw HeeChing and aunt Chu MiMi in Wan Chai. Loy frequently attends matchmaking lunches arranged by his mother. Meanwhile, on Lockhart Road, an orphaned girl named Oi Lin, played by Tang Wei, works for her uncle. Oi Lin is in a relationship with Xu, played by Andy On, but her uncle strongly disapproves of Xu due to his frequent run-ins with the law. Seeking a better match, Oi Lin's uncle organizes a blind date between her and Loy. Although their initial meeting is a complete flop, their persistent families refuse to give up. After a forced delivery of a dehumidifier and a tea meetup at the Honolulu Coffee Shop, Loy and Oi Lin surprisingly strike up a close friendship over their mutual love for detective stories.
