Description:

In 2003, 17-year-old Tomato experiences a dramatic upheaval when her parents divorce and her family faces ruin. Forced to move and attend Ying Ching Secondary School, she yearns to leave Hong Kong and explore the world. She finds an unexpected connection with Siu Ching, a juvenile offender at her new school. Together, they join an amateur theatre group, rehearsing a stage play centered on the dilemma of "going or staying." However, their artistic dreams are abruptly interrupted by the devastating SARS outbreak.

Seventeen years later, the "Cicada Cycle" repeats. Tomato returns to a lonely Hong Kong, prompted by her father's illness during the COVID-19 pandemic. Amidst her isolation, Director Auyeung Dong contacts both Tomato and Siu Ching, proposing to revive the very play halted by SARS. This offers them a poignant second chance to fulfill their long-held dream of performing. The film explores life's cyclical nature, the fine line between leaving as exploration or running away, and the enduring power of dreams and companionship found along life's winding path.
