Zetsumeshi Road introduces Suda Tamio, an ordinary salaryman constantly battling the daily stresses of modern life. His only true respite and passion lies in his unique quest: traveling to find Zetsumeshi. These are endangered meals, precious culinary delights on the verge of disappearing forever. As his wife Kanae and their child enjoy lively idol concerts, Suda Tamio takes his own kind of pilgrimage. Every Friday evening, after a long week, he embarks on a solo road trip, returning Saturday night. These journeys become more than just hunts for rare dishes; they are his personal escape, a therapeutic pursuit of vanishing flavors that offer profound comfort and and a sense of purpose. The film beautifully portrays his quiet rebellion against overwhelming pressure, showcasing how one man finds peace and renewed spirit through the simple, yet profound, act of savoring history on a plate, one endangered meal at a time.
