Description:

In 1965 Japan, amidst rapid economic growth, the Sanka, a nomadic band of outcasts, face the disappearance of their traditional way of life. Lonely 15-year-old Norio, arriving from Tokyo at his father's countryside estate to study, soon encounters three Sanka: teenage Hana, her father Shozo, and her grandmother. Drawn to their simple and rugged existence, Norio spends his summer days fishing and foraging with them.

However, Norio witnesses the profound discrimination the Sanka endure, especially from his own authoritarian father who rejects their unconventional lifestyle. Already at odds with his father, Norio develops a powerful, albeit hopeless, desire to embrace the Sanka's world. This journey ultimately forces him to confront the cruel realities of his age and the deep-seated prejudices within society.
