Worst By Chance follows Hidenori, a Japanese-Korean young man plagued by uncontrollable impulses. Detached from consequence, he aimlessly wanders the streets, a disturbing grin fixed on his face, even as he contemplates suicide before his dead sister's memory. When caught stealing, he merely smiles through the pain of a severed finger. By a strange twist of fate, his reckless scheme to stow away and journey to Korea, a homeland his sister never witnessed, attracts two kindred spirits. Yumi, an obsessive-compulsive girl with sticky fingers, and a lonely boy drifting through Sybuya, are drawn into Hidenori's plan. This unlikely trio, truly out of place in the world, along with the lingering presence of the dead, embark on a desperate voyage towards Hakata, a strange pilgrimage to honor a lost connection.
