Whisper of the Heart is a poignant story about dreams, ambition, and the harsh realities of adulthood. It begins with junior high school student Tsukishima Shizuku, who loves reading, forming an unlikely bond with classmate Amasawa Seiji. Despite an initial poor impression, Shizuku finds herself drawn to Seiji as he passionately pursues his aspirations. Discovering her own desire to become a novelist, Seiji falls for her, and the two make a solemn vow to achieve their respective dreams.

Ten years later, at twenty-four, Shizuku works as an editor for children's novels, having given up her own writing ambitions. Now focused on the commercial aspects of publishing, she feels a growing disconnect from Seiji, who remains abroad, steadfastly chasing his dreams. This film explores the distance that grows between them as Shizuku grapples with a lost dream, while Seiji relentlessly pursues his. It's a journey into rediscovering passion and navigating the complexities of enduring love.
