Set during the second Manchu invasion of Korea, the historical action film War of the Arrows follows NamYi, the finest master archer in the country. After their father is executed as a traitor, NamYi and his younger sister JaIn are taken in and raised by Kim MooSun. Years later, on the day JaIn marries SeoGoon, invading Qing forces raid their village, slaughtering the residents and taking the newlyweds hostage. Returning from a hunt to find his stepfather dead and his sister captured, NamYi sets out on a perilous rescue mission. Using his lethal bow, NamYi begins picking off the captors one by one. This catches the attention of the formidable Qing commander Jyuu ShinTa, who decides to hunt down the mysterious archer himself, triggering an intense war of arrows.
