Set during the turbulent year of 1937, War and Destiny is a gripping historical drama that begins when Manchuria is occupied by Japanese forces. Ku Ping On (Myolie Wu) and her loyal friend Tin Hau Yi (Ron Ng) travel to Nanjing to find her wealthy father, Ku Man Chai, after her mother falls ill. Following her mother's tragic death and many hardships, they arrive only to face segregation within the household. As the Marco Polo Bridge Incident leads to the fall of Nanjing, shocking secrets unfold. Ping On discovers that Hau Yi is the son of Japanese military officer Chung Tin Ngai (Shek Sau) and that he loves Cheng Yuet Fung (Lelia Tong), her father's fourth wife. Amidst this heartbreak, Poon Sai Cheung (Sunny Chan), a man collaborating with the Japanese, buys Ping On. Though she initially despises him as a traitor, she unexpectedly falls in love with him.
