Based on Shizuko Natsukis original book W No Higeki, the movie W's Tragedy follows a theater troupe staging a play about a wealthy family torn apart by murder. Shizuka, played by Hiroko Yakushimaru, is an aspiring stage actress who dreams of stardom. Although she auditions for the lead role of Mako, she is only cast as a maid and relegated to running errands. However, her fate changes when famous actress Sho Hatori, portrayed by Yoshiko Mita, faces a massive scandal. When Shos wealthy sugar daddy suffers a fatal heart attack during an intimate encounter, Sho fears her career will be ruined. To cover up the incident, Sho offers Shizuka a life-changing deal. If Shizuka takes the blame for the scandal, Sho will ensure she replaces Kaori, played by Miho Takagi, as the lead actress. Shizuka must decide if this dangerous bargain is the ultimate shortcut to the fame she has always dreamed of, or a trap that will destroy her.
