In the psychological horror film Uzumaki, a small town in Japan becomes the center of a terrifying and bizarre curse. The story begins when a young girl named Kirie spots her boyfriends father silently videotaping a snail. Though she initially dismisses his strange behavior, his obsession with spirals quickly escalates into madness. This bizarre fixation culminates in his horrific suicide inside a washing machine, which contorts his body into a literal spiral. Soon, this inexplicable madness spreads throughout the community. Other inhabitants of the town become deeply possessed by various forms of spirals. One student begins mutating into a grotesque human snail, while another finds her hair morphing into a strangely medusalike state. As the spiral curse takes hold, the entire town becomes possessed by this hypnotic, twisting nightmare.
