In the horror film Tomie: Re-birth, young art student Hideo paints an unnerving portrait of a beautiful girl named Tomie. When she whispers that she loves him, Hideo inexplicably reacts by stabbing her to death with a painting trowel. Desperate, his friends Takumi and Shunichi help him bury the body. To distract him, they take Hideo to a nearby bar, but the nightmare is far from over. A mysterious girl named Tomie suddenly arrives, looking shockingly similar to the dead girl they just buried. Chaos quickly ensues when Hideo is found dead in a bathroom stall. Left to face the supernatural terror alone, Takumi and Shunichi are thrust into a series of bizarre and horrific events. The unstoppable Tomie begins possessing other girls, transforming into a severed head with clawlike arms, and relentlessly taunting the boys. No matter how many times they kill her, she keeps coming back, proving that some nightmares can never be buried.
