There Is a Secret in My Soup is a gripping crime drama that begins at a crime scene and transitions to a police station. Officer Michael Wong Mantak leads the intense investigation, questioning those involved to unravel a tragic series of events through flashbacks. The story centers on Maggie Chan Cherry Chan Chiuchiu, a cable sex show cohost who escapes her abusive husband and moves in with Pat Angela Tong Yingying and her spouse, Rocky Hugo Ng Toiyung. Maggie begins working as a prostitute for Rocky, but after stealing cash and Rocky's fancy lighter to help her sickly grandmother, she becomes a target. Rocky unleashes Joe Gabriel Harrison Hoi Chunkit, a psychotic debt collector, to hunt her down. Though forced to pay HK20000, Maggie flees once more. With Pat unable to protect her, Rocky, Joe, and their buddy Fei capture Maggie, subjecting her to increasingly horrific abuse in a devastating spiral of cruelty.
