Description:

The Zen Diary introduces Tsutomu, a writer who embraces a tranquil existence in his secluded mountain cabin. He dedicates his days to a self-sufficient life, foraging for natural ingredients like fruits and mushrooms, cultivating vegetables, and meticulously preparing each meal. Through these rituals, he deeply connects with the flow of the seasons, which he captures in his ongoing book. His peaceful solitude is occasionally brightened by visits from his editor-girlfriend, Machiko. Together, they share heartwarming culinary experiences, cooking with seasonal produce and enjoying their time. While Tsutomu appears to relish this easygoing lifestyle, a profound, unresolved sorrow lingers beneath the surface. For thirteen long years, he has been unable to bury the ashes of his deceased wife, adding a poignant layer of emotional depth to his seemingly harmonious life.
