Description:

The Road Home is a beautiful romantic drama set in China, beginning in the present day when a son, Sun Honglei, returns to his remote village after his father's death. His mother, Zhao Di, insists on carrying her husband's coffin back to the village by foot, ensuring his spirit remembers the road home. Through the son's narration, the film transitions from black and white to vivid colors, telling the legendary love story of his parents. Decades earlier, the young country girl Zhao Di fell in love with Luo Changyu, the village teacher. Their courtship faced painful separations due to government summons, yet their deep bond survived. In the present, the son honors his mother’s wish. Over a hundred villagers volunteer to carry the casket for free to show respect for their late teacher. Ultimately, the son honors his father's legacy by teaching one final class in the old schoolhouse.
