In the entertaining comedy-drama The Midas Touch, successful debt collector Chiu finds his life taking an unexpected turn when he goes to collect a debt from a struggling entertainment agency. Feeling sympathetic toward a group of aspiring pop starlets signed to the agency, Chiu naively believes he can successfully launch their showbiz careers. He decides to take over the company as settlement for the debt. However, the entertainment industry proves much tougher than expected, and Chiu soon realizes he has bitten off more than he can chew. To save the company from bankruptcy, he hires Suen, an experienced talent manager, but funds continue to deplete rapidly. Just as a dejected Chiu is ready to accept that his Midas touch has failed, a Korean showbiz entity shows interest in the girls. Now, Chiu faces a heartfelt dilemma: should he sell his investment for a profit, or hold onto the dream he has grown to love?
