In the classic fantasy comedy movie The Mad Monk, the mischievous deity Dragon Fighter Lohan, played by Stephen Chow, is challenged by the Bodhisattva Guan Yin, played by Anita Mui. To avoid being reincarnated as an animal, Dragon must descend to Earth without his heavenly powers to change the tragic fates of three doomed individuals: a beggar, a prostitute, and a villain. Assisted by his sworn brother Tiger Fighter Lohan, played by Ng Man Tat, who brings him a magic fan with limited daily uses, Dragon attempts to redeem the three souls, portrayed by Anthony Wong, Maggie Cheung, and Kirk Wong. However, his earthly mission is severely threatened by a soul-stealing demon who controls the villain. As tragedy strikes and his divine tools fail him, Dragon must find a way to save these mortals before his time runs out. This hilarious yet emotional journey tests Dragon's resolve to prove that compassion can truly conquer evil.
