The Legend Of Xishi is a captivating historical drama of vengeance, love, and sacrifice. After suffering defeat and imprisonment by King Fuchai of Wu, King Goujian of Yue secretly plots his revenge. Minister Wen Zhong suggests a cunning trap: offering beautiful women to Fuchai to cloud his judgment. Minister Fan Li discovers the breathtaking Xi Shi and Zheng Dan, presenting them to Wu. Completely bewitched by Xi Shi, Fuchai neglects his state duties, builds the lavish Guanwa Palace on Lingyan Hill near Suzhou, and executes his loyal advisor Wu Zixu. With Wu severely weakened, Goujian launches a final strike in 473 BC, leading to the collapse of Wu and Fuchai’s suicide. The film concludes with the legendary mystery of Xi Shi’s ultimate fate—whether she retired to roam Taihu Lake on a fishing boat with her lover Fan Li, or met a tragic end by drowning in the river.
