The Knot is a poignant romantic drama tracking a lifelong love tested by war, distance, and time. At ages 20 and 18, Chen Qiushui and Wang Biyun fall deeply in love in Taiwan. However, the chaos of the 228 Massacre forces Chen Qiushui to flee. Before his departure, Wang Biyun gives him a gold engagement ring, cementing their promise to reunite. While separated, Chen Qiushui serves as an army doctor during the Korean War. He meets Wang Jindi, a nurse from Shanghai who falls instantly in love with him. Eventually, Wang Jindi follows him to Tibet, where tragedy strikes, and she is killed in an avalanche. Back in Taiwan, a devoted Wang Biyun buries Chen Qiushui's mother, holding onto hope. Decades later, Wang Biyun lives in Los Angeles. Her adopted daughter travels to Tibet to retrace Chen Qiushui's footsteps, sending back digital photos that finally reveal his final resting place, bringing a bittersweet closure to an enduring bond.
