The Happiness of the Katakuris is a dark comedy movie about a pioneering man who convinces his family to buy cheap land near a future road. Narrated by his divorced daughter, who has a toddler in hand, the family moves to this new space to open a bed and breakfast. The group also includes his wise father, loyal wife, and a slow-to-persuade son. Because they have no reservations at first, they spend all their time perfecting the property. However, when guests finally arrive, tragedy strikes as each visitor dies in their room. Desperate to protect their reputation before the business can even start, the family scrambles to hide the evidence. Soon, one complication leads to another, and they must constantly move the bodies to keep their secret safe.
