In 1933, "The Geisha" explores a life shaped by past tragedy and present turmoil. Twenty years after Katsuzo witnessed the brutal killing of the geisha he loved, he now operates as a zegen, supplying young women to Yokiro, the most prestigious geisha house in Southern Japan. This powerful establishment is managed by Osode, a woman from Katsuzo's own past as his former mistress.

Amidst this complex world, Katsuzo's daughter, Momowaka, raised within Yokiro, has blossomed into a revered Great Geisha. As Katsuzo's current girlfriend, Tamako, harbors aspirations of becoming a geisha herself, dangerous new challenges arise. Momowaka embarks on a forbidden love affair, while an influential Osaka yakuza clan sets its sights on dominating Yokiro. These intertwined events threaten to dismantle the fragile existence of the geisha house and everyone connected to it.
