Set in the year 1455 during the dramatic seizure of the throne by Sejo of Joseon, the historical film The Face Reader tells the captivating story of NaeKyung, played by Song KangHo. Born into a ruined noble family, NaeKyung travels across Joseon to study the ancient art of physiognomy. Through this, he gains the unique ability to assess a person's personality, mental state, habits, and future just by analyzing their face. Despite his extraordinary talent, NaeKyung lives a quiet life in seclusion alongside his son JinHyeong, portrayed by Lee JongSuk, and his brother-in-law PaengHun, played by Cho JungSeok. Deep down, NaeKyung dreams of securing a position as a public officer. However, because of his family's failed background, achieving this goal is virtually impossible.
