Set in the early 2000s, The Eyes of Dawn is a gripping drama centered on Japanese lawyer Asano, played by Meng Xiang, and his girlfriend Zhang Min, a skilled brain surgeon. Zhang Min is commissioned by an elderly woman named Liu beauty, also known as Akiyama US, played by Cheng Pei Pei. Liu beauty wants to make public her personal diary detailing her traumatic experiences in a Nanjing comfort station to expose a distorted, unknown part of world history. However, Zhang Min discovers that Liu beauty has residual metal shrapnel in her brain. Because surgery offers a very slim chance of survival, Zhang Min decides to use hypnosis intervention to cure her amnesia. As Liu beauty enters a hypnotic state, she gradually recalls her tragic past, bringing painful memories to light.
