Description:

The Dry Spell submerges audiences into a city battling a severe water shortage during an unforgiving summer of continuous sunshine. As water supply restrictions are issued, Shunsaku Iwakiri, an employee for the city’s water department, faces the difficult task of enforcing these measures. His job involves visiting homes and stores behind on their bills, demanding payment or initiating a water supply suspension.

Shunsaku, already separated from his wife and children, finds his own heart growing increasingly thirsty for connection as he navigates the city’s drought. He spends his days confronting poor households, often feeling abhorred for his work. However, during one particularly challenging water shutoff, Shunsaku encounters two neglected young sisters. Seeing in them a reflection of his own longing for family, he feels compelled to offer them a compassionate helping hand, hoping to find solace and a sense of purpose amidst the city's desperate struggle.
