The Ancient Dogoo Girl is a captivating fantasy comedy following Makoto Sugihara, a reclusive hikikomori whose isolated life is turned upside down. While wandering in the woods, Makoto accidentally unearths a strange breastplate. Upon touching it, the artifact burns its ancient design into his palm and awakens Doguchan, a hyperactive yokai hunter from the Jomon period. Now bound to her by fate, Makoto is thrust into a chaotic new reality. As Doguchan struggles to adapt to modern day life, she must also battle dangerous yokai using magical armor formed by her dogu assistant, Dokigoro. Whether Makoto likes it or not, he is dragged along on her wild misadventures. Through these bizarre battles and humorous encounters, the eccentric Jomon hunter slowly pries the reluctant hikikomori out of his shell, helping him confront his fears and reconnect with the world around him.
