Set in turn of the century Japan, Sorekara And Then is a compelling drama that explores a complex web of love, duty, and friendship. Daisuke, a wealthy thirty-year-old intellectual passionate about music and literature, faces constant family pressure to find a respectable job and a wife. However, his comfortable life is disrupted when his former best friend, Hiraoka, returns. Hiraoka, who has recently lost his job and possesses a difficult temper, is married to Michiyo, a woman who was once deeply in love with Daisuke. When Daisuke and Michiyo reunite, their long-buried romantic feelings quickly resurface. Trapped in an unhappy marriage, Michiyo finds solace in Daisuke, while Hiraoka remains critical of his friend's refusal to work.
