Soratobu Kouhoushitsu follows Inaba Rika, played by Aragaki Yui, a determined director at Teito TV Network whose childhood dream of being a reporter is shattered due to her aggressive interviewing style. Transferred against her will to an evening information programme, she is tasked with covering the Self Defence Forces. There, she meets First Lieutenant Sorai Daisuke, played by Ayano Go, a former fighter pilot whose career ended after a foot injury, landing him in the Air Staff Offices Public Relations Department. Recognizing his emotional struggles, Daisukes superior Sagisaka, played by Shibata Kohei, pairs them up. Desperate to make a comeback with a major scoop, Rika behaves provocatively towards the department members, especially Daisuke. However, when she says something insensitive that she never should have, both are forced to confront their broken dreams and find a new way forward.
