In present day Beijing, the fashion drama Sleepless Fashion follows Zhou Xiaohui, played by Vic Chou. Once a shy graduate, Xiaohui becomes an arrogant associate editor at Celebrity magazine under editor-in-chief Alex Alan Tam. After a minor gaffe threatens the company's IPO, Xiaohui is fired. Determined to prove himself, he launches a rival magazine called Modern. Joined by his loyal former colleagues Fatty and Yinghong, played by Vivian Hsu, and funded by wealthy friend Wu Yang, played by Kimi Qiao, they struggle when the first issue flops. Realizing he must stop copying his rival, Xiaohui is inspired by Yinghong to pursue a natural fashion look. He pitches legendary singer Qi Xi, played by Yu Nan, to be their cover model. While she initially agrees, a sudden change of heart by her manager threatens to ruin everything.
