In the captivating drama Signal, a young woman named Ruka, played by Azusa Mine in her acting debut, has spent the last three years living and working as a projectionist inside a historic 100-year-old theater in Niigata, Japan, unable to leave. Her isolated world begins to shift when Keisuke, played by Takahiro Nishijima, a university student from Tokyo, takes a summer job at the very same cinema. Working side by side in the vintage theater, Keisuke becomes deeply attracted to the mysterious Ruka and tries to understand the barriers keeping her trapped inside. Based on the novel Signuaru by Hisashi Sekiguchi, first published by Gentosha, this emotional film captures a tender connection between two young souls.
