Shiroi Haru is a touching drama that follows Haruo, a former yakuza member who is finally released from prison after serving his sentence. Starting his new life with nine years of prison gratuities, Haruo’s hope is quickly shattered when his money is stolen at a restaurant. Left with absolutely nothing, he spends the night at a net cafe and tracks down an old friend from his yakuza days. Through this friend, Haruo learns a shocking truth: his former girlfriend, Mariko, lived with another man before dying of an illness. Haruo, who committed murder nine years earlier to pay for Mariko’s medical treatment, is filled with shock and anger. Driven by resentment, he decides to track down the man, who now runs a bakery with his wife and daughter, Sachi. When Haruo later runs into young Sachi at a park, he has yet to discover the deep truth that connects them.
