Love or Duty: Samurai Rebellion is a gripping color remake of the classic Kobayashi masterpiece. The story centers on Sasahara Isaburo, a master swordsman whose family is thrown into turmoil by the whims of their ruler. Lord Matsudaira of the Aizu clan decides to banish his favorite concubine, sending her to marry Isaburo's son, Yogoro, after she bears the lord a second son. Despite the unusual circumstances, the family accepts her, though Isaburo must also deal with his shrewish wife, Suga. However, peaceful times do not last. When the lord suddenly changes his mind and demands the woman's return, the family faces a critical choice between absolute obedience and family honor. Refusing to yield to the unjust demand, Sasahara Isaburo and Yogoro choose defiance. This ultimate clash between love and duty ignites a bloody conflict, leading to explosive violence as the swordsmen stand ground against the clan in a fight for justice.
