Description:

Set in the tumultuous twilight of the Edo period, Samurai Marathon unfolds as Japan grapples with the looming specter of foreign intrusion. Annaka lord Katsuaki Itakura, driven by a desire to strengthen his warriors, devises an unconventional training regimen: an arduous 58-kilometer excursion for his samurais through treacherous mountain roads.

However, Katsuaki's progressive initiative is gravely misconstrued by the shogunate, who perceive it as an act of treason. With the samurais absent on their challenging journey, the shogunate plots to assassinate Lord Katsuaki, who remains at the castle. A single individual, acutely aware of the impending crisis, understands the shogunate's deadly plan. He embarks on a desperate race against time, running to intercept the shogunate's forces and thwart the assassination, hoping to save Katsuaki and prevent further disaster. This gripping narrative of loyalty and misunderstanding is based on Akihiro Dobashi's novel.
