The TV series Safe Guards follows the famous Wui Yau Safeguard Agency in Hangzhou, which faces bankruptcy due to financial mismanagement. Patriarch Sheung Ching Tong, alongside his sons, must fight to rebuild the business. The 25-episode drama centers on Sheung Chi, the adopted third son. When Sheung Ching Tong struggles to choose a successor between natural sons Sheung Chung and Sheung Hao, it triggers a massive crisis. Despite being adopted, Sheung Chi must navigate these family tensions and eventually becomes the agency master. Later, younger brother Sheung Yi returns from overseas following their father's death. Recognizing that modernization and railroads will make land transport obsolete, Sheung Chi, Sheung Chung, and Sheung Yi pivot to river delivery rights. Amidst this, Sheung Chi navigates a relationship with Lei Cheung Fung, while Sheung Hao and his mother and uncle plot to destroy his achievements. This drama features lighthearted moments alongside dark twists, including the tragic deaths of three main characters.
