The medical drama Sacred Monsters follows Shiba Kengo, played by Okada, a purehearted and highly dedicated young surgeon. When Kengo is transferred from a prestigious university hospital to a financially troubled medical facility, his idealistic views are put to the test. There, he encounters Kasugai Yuka, portrayed by Nakatani, a capable and coolheaded chief nurse who introduces him to the harsh realities of the medical world. As the pure Kengo navigates this challenging environment, he must confront numerous obstacles to tear off the masks of respected professionals, including doctors, nurses, and educators, to uncover their true natures.
