In the movie Rock'n'Roll Housewives, Mieko Hitomi Kuroki is a housewife dealing with an indifferent husband, Masahiko Nishimura, and a daughter, Sayako Hiroko Kurisaki, who refuses to go to school. Hoping to escape her troubles, Mieko reunites with her divorced former coworker, Kaori Tae Kimura. After learning how Kaori was swindled out of her money, Mieko decides to loan her the cash. To afford this, Mieko starts working part-time at a convenience store, where she catches a shoplifter, Yukimi Shizuyo Yamazaki. Surprisingly, Mieko and Yukimi get along great. Along with Kaori, the three women decide to visit a karaoke room to unwind. While at the karaoke bar, they hear the classic song Smoke On The Water by Deep Purple. Energized by the music, they make the wild decision to form their own rock band, turning their mundane lives around.
