The Japanese movie Rebirth is a poignant drama about love, trauma, and motherhood. The story follows Kiwako, played by Hiromi Nagasaku, who abducts a baby from a man she has had an affair with. For four years, Kiwako raises the child as her own with deep affection until her sudden arrest. The young girl, named Erina, is returned to her birth parents, but she struggles to find peace throughout her life. Years later, as an adult, Erina, portrayed by Mao Inoue, finds herself in a similar predicament when she becomes involved with a married man and gets pregnant. In an attempt to confront her troubled past, Erina travels to Shodoshima, the island where she once lived happily with Kiwako. In Shodoshima, Erina discovers a shocking truth that changes her perspective on everything, forcing her to make a crucial decision that will define her future.
