In the quiet countryside, Ranbou to Taiki tells a dark and tense story of cohabitation inside a wooden municipal house. Roommates Hidenori Yamane, played by Tadanobu Asano, and Nanase Ogawa, played by Minami, share a bizarre and awkward existence under the same roof. Every night, Hidenori climbs into the attic to peek through a hole into Nanase's room, plotting cruel ways to inflict revenge. Nanase, wearing outdated sweaters and glasses, calls Hidenori her brother despite having no blood relation. Fully aware of his nightly voyeurism, she willingly awaits his punishment due to a mysterious incident from ten years ago. Although they sleep on the same bunk bed, their relationship remains strictly non-sexual. This fragile, isolated dynamic is suddenly threatened when a new couple moves into the neighborhood. Their arrival introduces a delicate crack in the roommates' closed-off world, forcing their dark secrets and suppressed tension to the surface.
