In a secluded mountain town in rural Tohoku, the ancient traditions of the Matagi hunters are preserved, centered around their vital spring bear hunts. Nobuyuki, a young man assisting his parents, finds himself increasingly tired of the isolated village lifestyle, yet passively accepts his fate. A pivotal moment arrives when Matagi leader Shimoyama announces devastating news: local authorities have imposed a ban on bear hunting due to population decline, rendering any hunt illegal poaching. While most hunters reluctantly accept, upholding their way of life, Nobuyuki's senior, Reijiro, fiercely resists. Later, Reijiro confronts Nobuyuki with a dangerous proposition: to secretly challenge the ban together, embarking on an illicit bear hunt that will test Nobuyuki's deepest convictions and the future of their cherished heritage.
