"Prodigy" tells the compelling story of Naruse Uta, a truly unique 13-year-old child. Gifted with an extraordinary musical talent, she could interpret sheet music before uttering her first words, yet now finds herself utterly repulsed by the very piano she once mastered. Her world was irrevocably altered by the mysterious disappearance of her father, a renowned piano virtuoso, during her formative years.

This profound loss forced Uta and her mother to leave their lavish home for a more modest existence in a bustling working-class neighborhood. It is here she crosses paths with Kikuna Oto, the son of a local grocer. Oto, himself a budding musician, struggles with a lack of ambition to truly pursue his passion. However, the arrival of Uta Naruse into his life promises to be a catalyst, potentially inspiring him to chase his dreams and perhaps, in turn, help Uta rediscover her own lost love for music.
