Peking Opera Blues unfolds in a tumultuous 1913 China, where General Yuan ShiKai consolidates power after the Qing Dynasty's fall, requiring a vital European loan. General Tsao assists in securing this loan, unaware his revolutionary daughter, Tsao Wan, plots to steal the crucial documents. Her dangerous mission leads her to a lively opera house, where she encounters two distinct women. Bai Niu yearns to defy tradition and perform onstage with her father Wu Ma's all-male troupe. Meanwhile, spirited musician Hong arrives, pursuing a box of jewelry. Their lives converge when Tsao Wan attempts a clandestine meeting with a revolutionary spy during an opera performance.
