Set in the Rattanakosin Kingdom, the compelling story of Pee Mak begins as Mak bravely leaves his pregnant wife, Nak, to fight in a harrowing war. While on the battlefield, Mak forges a strong bond with four fellow soldiers, who quickly become his best friends. Back home, Nak faces immense struggles giving birth to their baby alone. Upon the war's conclusion, Mak eagerly returns, inviting his new friends to visit Phra Khanong and meet his beautiful wife. However, their anticipated reunion is clouded by disturbing whispers throughout the town. Rumors suggest that Nak is, in fact, a ghost. Mak's four loyal friends and the concerned villagers embark on a desperate mission to reveal the terrifying truth: his wife has been dead all along. The film then explores Mak's confrontation with this devastating, supernatural reality about the woman he loves.
