Papa Katsu is a gripping drama that follows the life of Anri Akama, played by Marie Iitoyo, an ordinary 20yearold university student whose life suddenly falls apart. After being kicked out of her home because of her mother's boyfriend, Anri Akama is also abandoned by her own boyfriend. With nowhere to stay, she spends her time living at an internet cafe. Desperate for help, she learns about Papa Katsu from a friend. This refers to a practice where men offer money for platonic companionship, including going on dates or having meals together. Hoping to survive, she signs up on a Papa Katsu website to meet men. One day, she waits at a hotel lobby for a meeting that will change her path.
