In the psychological horror movie Over Your Dead Body, star Miyuki Goto, played by Ko Shibasaki, lands the lead role of Oiwa in a new theatrical production based on the classic ghost story Yotsuya Kaidan. Eager to share her success, Miyuki uses her influence to cast her lover, the relatively unknown actor Kosuke Hasegawa, portrayed by Ebizo Ichikawa. However, tension rises backstage as fellow performers Rio Asahina, played by Miho Nakanishi, and Jun Suzuki, played by Hideaki Ito, harbor intense lust for Miyuki. Soon, the possessive love and dangerous obsessions of the cast members spill over from the stage into real life. Trapped in a nightmare where the boundaries between the play and reality are completely blurred, their amplified emotions spiral out of control. When they realize that love is doomed both on and off the stage, passion curdles into a deadly grudge, crossing the line between fantasy and terrifying reality.
