Set in 1978 at Jungmoon High School in Gangnam, Once Upon a Time in High School is a gripping drama about youth, love, and violence. New transfer student Hyun Soo quickly learns the harsh realities of his new school, which is notorious for brutal corporal punishment and fierce gang rivalries. After bonding over basketball and their shared love for Bruce Lee, Hyun Soo becomes best friends with the school kingpin, Woo Sik. However, their bond is tested when they both fall for Eun Ju, a girl resembling Olivia Hussey. While Eun Ju is drawn to the charismatic Woo Sik, Hyun Soo suffers in silence. The situation worsens when the tyrannical student patrol captain, Jong Hoon, drives Woo Sik out of school after a rigged duel. Left behind, Hyun Soo becomes the target of relentless bullying and systemic abuse.
