On the First Beat is an action-packed drama following Hong Kong police constables Chung LapMan and Lee PakKiu. Their lives take a tragic turn during a street patrol when they clash with gang leader Cheng ChiKeung. A botched drug bust leads to the death of Fiona Ma, leaving PakKiu severely injured and deeply resentful of LapMan. Months later, the bitter rivals must work under their new sergeant, Cheung KingFung, who was actually the undercover officer responsible for ChiKeung's initial arrest. As the officers undergo rigorous training, personal dramas unfold. LapMan faces complex romantic feelings involving Ho Fa, Man Ching, and Cheung NimYan. Meanwhile, PakKiu grows close to Yuen WaiNei, KingFung's pregnant ex-wife. Tragedy strikes again when a vengeful ChiKeung returns, taking WaiNei hostage. Following a devastating confrontation, WaiNei delivers her baby prematurely and passes away. KingFung is left to raise his son, KaiOn, as the officers struggle with duty, loss, and forgiveness.
