In the hilarious comedy North Korean Guys, two North Korean soldiers, Choe Baekdu, a taciturn officer, and Lim Donghae, a private nearing the end of his military service, are working hard at the Mt. Maebong camp. During a relaxing day of fishing at sea, they share a drink, doze off in the cool breeze, and wake up to find themselves stranded in South Korean seas. Surrounded by the lively summer vacation crowd on the East Coast, the duo tries to blend in. However, cultural misunderstandings quickly arise. Locals mistake their accents for the Yanbian dialect, while the police suspect them of being spies sent from above. Their secret escape plan goes completely haywire when they cross paths with a rebellious high school girl. She happens to be the runaway daughter of the local chief of police. With the entire police force launching a massive search for her, these lost soldiers must navigate a chaotic web of misunderstandings to find a way back home.
